Ability to work Night Shift (12 hours per day, 4 nights per week, 5pm-5am).High level of attentiveness and physical coordination to perform the work activities safely and productively.Ability to communicate well with supervisors, welders, leadmen, other Mechanics, maintenance personnel, co-workers and outside contractors.Be familiar with and obey all company working practices and Federal Safety Regulations.Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.Basic mechanical knowledge to detect potential breakdown of equipment.Ability to speak English with others via two-way radio.Ability to read English sufficiently and be able to comprehend information contained in manuals, regulations and reports.Ability to perform basic logging and documenting functions.Be capable of working in all weather conditions.Ability to carry out not only simple, but complex oral and written instructions and deal with problems from standardized situations and work experience.Prior experience required with similar or same equipment or machinery.Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.Meet or exceed company safety standards.Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times.Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed.Maintain good housekeeping of the equipment.Work under direction of Leadman and Manager.At times welding may have to be performed to combat breakdowns.Operate controls and levers to hoist, drag and swing, cutter head for efficient productivity from banks of the pond.Be able to operator under training from lead man, loader operator, and supervisor for running a smooth and safe production.In a safe and efficient manner be able to operate a workboat with motor.Become familiar with necessary lubrication of moving part on dredge.Be familiar with correct moving procedures from moving dredge to actually mining.Be able to correctly change or repair various teeth from cutter heads.Make sure dredge has an adequate supply of tools, fire extinguishers, first aid supplies and safety equipment.
Assist maintenance personnel with repairs and preventive maintenance.Carry out minor repairs and adjustments.Become familiar with assigned equipment and recognize potential maintenance problems by sight and sound and inform supervisory personnel.
